Before and after, neuromodulator injections

Examples by area of the face, to see what a session can change and what it leaves as it is. Service offered by Dre Katty Hrynowiecki, DMD, general dentist, in Roxton Pond and Mont-Saint-Hilaire. Results vary from person to person.

How to read these photos

Each pair shows the same person, before the session on the left and after the stated delay on the right.

  • Same light, same angle, same expression in both photos, to compare what can be compared.
  • A requested expression: frowning, raising the eyebrows or smiling. These lines deepen when the muscle moves; that is where the difference shows.
  • The eyes are masked by a band, to protect identity. In profile photos, the band stops at the corner of the eye so the area stays visible.
  • No retouching, no filter, no makeup added between the two photos.
  • The delay between the two photos is stated under each pair. The full effect shows after 10 to 14 days; on the jaw, it settles in over several weeks.

Frown lines, between the eyebrows

Frown lines are the vertical lines that deepen between the eyebrows when you frown. The injection targets the small muscles that pull the eyebrows together; when frowning, the lines are less marked.

Forehead

Horizontal forehead lines appear when you raise your eyebrows. The injection partly relaxes the forehead muscle; the dosage aims to keep the eyebrows moving.

Crow's feet, at the corner of the eyes

Crow's feet are the fine fan-shaped lines at the outer corner of the eye, most visible when you smile. The injection targets the muscle around the eye; the smile stays the same.

Gummy smile

A gummy smile is when the upper lip rises high and shows a band of gum. A small injection can limit how high it rises; the teeth themselves do not change.

Jaw and masseters

The masseters are the muscles used to chew and to clench the teeth. In people who clench or grind their teeth, they can become larger. An injection relaxes them; the lower face may look softer after a few months. This service is often part of the care for bruxism and jaw tension.

What the photos do not show

  • Movement. A photo freezes one expression; in person, the face keeps moving.
  • Duration. The effect generally lasts 3 to 6 months, depending on the area, the dosage and the person. A follow-up can then be planned, after reassessment.
  • Possible side effects, such as a bruise at the injection site or a temporary asymmetry. They are explained during the consultation, before any injection.
  • What suits your face. Each plan is decided after an assessment, not from a photo.

Consent and privacy

Every person whose real photo appears here has signed a written consent. Sometimes, clients themselves ask to share their photos.

The band over the eyes is requested by Dre Katty, to protect each person's identity. No name appears, and photos are removed on simple request. Photos taken during a consultation are first used for the file: they are never published without this consent.

Frequently asked questions

Why are the eyes masked?

It is Dre Katty's request: no one should be able to recognize the person. The band covers the eyes only, so the forehead, the eyebrows and the corner of the eyes stay visible.

Are the photos retouched?

No. Only the band over the eyes and the cropping are applied, the same way on both photos of a pair.

How long after the session is the “after” photo taken?

About two weeks later, when the effect is complete, at the follow-up visit. For the jaw, rather after three months, because the change is gradual.

Will I get the same result?

Not necessarily. The response depends on the strength of the muscles, the skin, age and the area. The consultation is precisely there to see what can be considered for you.
